We are thrilled to announce that from season 20/21 we are extending our partnership with London School of Basketball to whole new level.

Our club has grown into leading force of basketball program that provides opportunities from grassroots basketball all the way to international experience. In first year of existing we have grown in numbers from 60 to over 180. We have signed extra 5 coaches and extended competitions. From upcoming season we will be providing National League platform, EYBL exposure to U17 and U20 to all Capital City Academy students who already compete in ABL

This did not go unnoticed as CEO of LSB Nhamo Shire said: “London Elite are a rapidly rising and hugely ambitious club who are already active in Europe and domestic leagues, so offer our Capital City Academy players some excellent outlets in terms of ongoing progression and exposure.  However, their commitment to the grassroots is what most impressed me as we discussed linking in with them.  They are already heavily involved in over 15 primary schools across Brent and Ealing with many more to come.  Setting up the complete pathway pyramid from beginner through to elite is something we are keen to get behind and so will be supporting London Elite in a number of ways in the months and years ahead as we continue to develop the game across the region”

Capital City Academy is located in borough of Brent and offers great education courses alongside amazing basketball set up. Facilities are well known to London basketball players as 500 seater venue will be a home for London Elite Div 3, U18 and U16 in new season.

The LSB, in partnership with Capital City Academy, has launched a new scholarship program for gifted & talented student-athletes enrolled at the Capital City Basketball Academy. Scholarship bursaries range from £500-£1,500 per year, per award and may be used to support direct training costs with eligible areas including travel, equipment, kit, specialist coaching, tutoring, and video performance analysis all geared towards elite performance.

Director Daniel Szatkowski said:” It is no brainer that our vision and LSB vision is pretty much same. We have massive grassroots platform and create pathway all the way to EYBL competitions. With support of Ambassador program, Trip for prestigious BBT tournament in Belgrade, Unique recruitment platform and SAT back up at Capital city… we are destine for success. Lots of hard work but i am confident myself and coach Kieran Matthews can deliver unique championship environment.”

London Elite is really proud and excited to announce that our U18 girls’ team will follow pathway of boy’s teams and in season 2020/21 participating in European Girls basketball league!This is the first ever British Girls team to participate in such prestigious league. Our girls will play against top competitive teams from Europe and have opportunity to travel to different countries. Inseason 2020/21 there are currently teams from 22 countries signed up.

Our club’s director Daniel Szatkowski said:“It is truly outstanding news to girls’ basketball community in UK. Having a girls youth team in EGBL is not only history being made, but truly platform for any girl wanting to take their game to highest level of basketball league. I am more then excited to see how this project progress.”

We are happy to confirm that William Twigg is taking over Head Coach position for this exciting project. Merlin Piscitelli will be assistant coach for campaign 2020/21. Coach Twigg comments:

Our squad will travel three times to Poland or Latvia. They will play 15 games with results counting towards the league table. Should we make the top 4 we will proceed to play off stage organised in late April 2021 London Elite prides itself in supporting initiatives which creates unique platform for girls in London to take game to upper level.Girls Team is going to train at Capital city Academy in North West London with frequent friendly games as a part of preparation. Despite ongoing lockdown situation where clubs have been forced to shut down their practises, we decided to work extra hard in other areas of the game.

Coaches discussion and brainstorming session helped to set the right direction for the club and its members to improve our basketball standards. As we have entered 5th week of lockdown, we are improving on delivering various basketball activities. Please have a quick preview below:

1. London School of Basketball Push up challenge.

We are proud of our teams competing against other clubs in push up challenge. Our squads worked hard and improved over 4 weeks time significantly. Additionally, our own U18’s have been crowned London Champions beating Cohenel in final!

2. Strength and Conditioning

We are fortunate to have some great S&C coaches on board, we decided to run online sessions on Zoom app. Great exercises allowed boys to imrpove their explosivnes, strenght and helped them understand more importance of stretching.

3. Adam on board!

We strive towards the best possible standards of the club, therefore we are happy to introduce Adam, our new Osteopath who will work with people across the club. Adam delivered great injury prevention clips which can be found on our Instagram Elite TV.

As players are working really hard on their game, we did not forget about fun ideas too. We organised 2K tournament which was played by 32 players, we have ongoing weekly spot the difference which turned to be great idea. Additionally we have Netflix parties with “Last Dance” documentary, parents meeting on zoom.

Finally what is most important, it would not be possible without one person. If it was not his creativity and amazing talent, most of our staff would not be possible. We are truly blessed to have Ivan Grotsev on board as Media person. He is true MVP!

As our season is at full swing, we have never forgotten about importance of holiday camps. While most of clubs take time off basketball, we have different idea about using this holiday period.

We are very happy to inform that we had 53 kids throughout the week attending our camp! We were able to arrange quality of coaches with coach Daniel, Kieran and Mauro being responsible for progress of participants. Additionally every camper attending more then 3 days received a free t-shirt!

Coach Keiran who impressed kids with quality of sessions said:

“It was fun to work with Elite camp during this break. When you realise that London Elite is couple months old, you have problems with believing how great club it is with great talented kids. It was fun to work with other coaches!”

During the camp players could improve their overall skills while having multiple competitions including: Dunk contest, Skills challenge or 3 point contest!

Most improved camper award went to Tymarli who is still U10 and worked extremely hard through out all 5 days!

As this camp is a wrap, we can’t wait to next break during the Easter period. Break full of fun, development and creating memories!

What a better way of spending holiday then to play basketball and improve your skills while making friends and having lots of fun?

London Elite sets up regular holiday camps across west london that are run by fully qualified and DBS checked coaches. Camps show off an improvement in individual skills alongside team building quality and overall knowledge about basketball.

During the camp kids are split into age groups and coached by london elite coaches. Players will spend majority of time on court, working on S&C, dribbling, shooting and other aspects of the game. We can’t emphasize enough the importance of it in the overall understanding of the game. Therefore each squad will have a theoretical sessions in classroom where they will learn about rules and professional athletic lifestyle.

The club is able to provide lower hoops and smaller balls, therefore can cater for children of age from 8 years old into the camp.

As London Elite club is fully underway with domestic and European competitions for boys, we have been waiting in big anticipation to start our girls section.

Our long wait came to the end when girls young squad went to play their first competitive games in Winchester on Sunday 10th of November.

In first ever competitive game, our girls faced host team Winchester Royals. Our team jumped in early lead with great offensive display from Amelie and Anna and controlled game in low scoring battle of two sides. Our team struggled to convert on many occasions but left their heart playing great defence. As we went in final period with 6 points lead, the host team scored more points in last quartet and took 2 point win.

Elite girls went into second game without a break, nevertheless it was more experienced Solent Kestrels team who controlled the game. Despite gap being 20 points, there was a lot of positives to take out of this performance. As we faced one of best teams in the league we held opposition to their lowest score so far.

Our Tops scorer for the day as Anna Safin with 14 points.

Young Elite girls will face next week Sevenoaks Suns and Winchester Royals at home.

London Elite U17 boys team went for their first competitive experience straight into highest competitive league, EYBL.

Stage were hosted in beautiful DNS arena in Riga, Latvia. Our Head Coach Daniel knew it will not be easiest competition. “I decided to enter our team into this extremely competitive team based on individual potential of my players, but basketball is a team sport and we knew we have to work on this aspect mainly”

Players expected tough match ups from Eastern European team, but showed no fear playing against some powerhouses of European basketball. In both games of first day boys showed a lot of individual potential however team execution was our team main issue which was main reason we lost first 2 games.

Morgan Cotterell who recorded good tournament with 10 point per game and 2.6 assist said:”This was a great learning curve for our team and showed how we can become one of strongest teams in the league”

Aaron Pyne, our PG who has received Outstanding performance award of tournament said: “It was amazing to come to such a high competition and improve as a team that much. I personally learnt a lot and had a great opportunity to prove myself and get further feedback on what to work on. Really happy to be able to work for team and receive such a prestigious award”

Last day of tournament presented boys hardest teams when our team faced previously undefeated VTB Lublin team from Poland.

After slow start and going 29-13 down in first period, our team led by trio Cotterell, Olalekan and Pyne proved that have no fear of opposition and led to 1 point win behind buzzer beater basket from Israel Olalekan to seal 2nd win of tournament in match up against tough opposition.

Israel Olalekan who has been selected to best 5 of tournament after averaging 15.4 points and 11.6 rebounds per game said:

“Being fairly small team we came to tournament with nothing then confidence on our shoulders. As we progressed through, we learned how to work together and put our differences aside to win our games. We surprisingly shocked other really strong teams.

Israel continues on how EYBL helped him in developing his game:” As a student of the game i’ve learnt many skills and life lessons from my coach Daniel. Being a young player travelling and experiencing many different levels, i can change and develop many techniques for future reference as i move forward .

Our u17’s return to London with heads up and amazing amount of feedback regarding what to work on.

Next stage is being held in Lublin, Poland 24th-27th January 2020.
